Jack's Dundas Square

Jack Dundas is a great spot if you’re looking for a relaxing place to hang out near Dundas Square. What stood out most to me was the atmosphere — it has a casual yet lively vibe, perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a quiet solo meal. I especially loved the outdoor seating area. It gave me a clear view of Dundas Square, which really made the experience feel more special and connected to the heart of the city. The staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing, which added to the overall comfort of the visit. Service was smooth, and we were never left waiting long. As for the food, it was decent — nothing particularly unique or groundbreaking, but it hit the spot. The menu offers a good variety, though I felt the prices were a bit on the high side for what was served. That said, the location and view might justify the cost for many.

Really loved dining on the patio. Great view of the square. My server Brooklyn was awesome. Very friendly and attentive. Food was great, especially the sweet potato fries.

I loved the rooftop patio here! Really beautiful and a wonderful place to enjoy your food and drinks. I ordered a Margarita and pad Thai. The flavours were a little off but I adjusted them with salt. I had a sweet time here with my friend and I spent about two hours here which was nice.

We’ve always loved Jack Astor’s in so many different cities, but this downtown Toronto location truly felt magical. We were seated on the patio and had an incredible view of a live performance happening at Yonge-Dundas Square. It added so much energy and excitement to our evening and made the whole experience feel really special. The service was amazing from start to finish. The staff were attentive, friendly, and welcoming. And as always, the food didn’t disappoint. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavourful, and consistent with the great quality we’ve come to expect from Jack Astor’s. This has quickly become one of our favourite locations, and we find ourselves coming back often. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, we highly recommend checking this spot out, especially if you can grab a seat on the patio during an event. We absolutely love it here.

My family and friends came here on Canada day since we were downtown. I got the hunters chicken and I loved the roasted smashed potatoes. Our server Jay (Jimbo) was very helpful. We had ordered fries but they weren't really hot, so he took them back and brought us fresh hot fries. We were happy with his service and everyone was satisfied with their food.

We came here for an early dinner after a show and were surprised to see it was quite crowded even before 5pm, but we were still seated and served promptly. My family and I each ordered a main course with mixed reviews - the Mac and cheese was a hit, my fish tacos were quite tasty but the dan dan noodles and chicken strips were just okay. - we didn't wait long for our food and our server checked in on us once but did not top up our waters.. so slightly mixed feelings about the service. - atmosphere itself was quite good, it had a constant buzz but was not too loud. Overall, not a bad place for dinner downtown but there are definitely better restaurants.

Visiting from Europe, I experienced the kind of customer service that gives restaurants in this region the grace to charge tips. My group of three visited around the early evening of a weekday, and we were lucky to get a seat on the terrace with the beautiful view of the Dundas square! Our view was a little obscured by other guests, but I got a good view from walking around after a full stomach of the salmon bowl I ordered, which was, by the way, my best option since the restaurant isn't halal-friendly. My group spent a great deal of time here just chatting away, and we were not for once rushed to pay and leave. One of the staff was kind enough to take pictures of us. The bathroom was clean, and I loved the soft music the live DJ played indoors.
